Other sources

Use a dedicated tracking number to measure calls from flyers, directories, wraps, or social profiles.

An Other tracking source gives you a dedicated tracking number for anywhere you publish a phone number yourself, such as print mailers, service vans, Yelp or industry directories, radio spots, or social profiles.

  1. Open Tracking, choose Add tracking, and select Other.
  2. Enter a clear name (such as “Spring postcard” or “Yelp”) so leads from that number are easy to spot on Overview and in the Inbox.
  3. Pick a verified forwarding number, then choose a tracking number. See where new numbers come from.
  4. Review the quote and choose Start tracking.
  5. Publish the tracking number on that flyer, directory, or profile.
  6. Call the tracking number from a separate phone to confirm your business phone rings and the call activity shows up in NMC.

Create a separate tracking source and number for each place you want to measure independently. If you print the same tracking number on both a door hanger and a directory, NMC can tell someone called that number, not which place they saw it.

Always swap your regular business phone number back onto directories and social pages before a tracking number’s release date. Keep in mind that magnets, stickers, vehicle wraps, and postcards stay in customers’ hands long after a campaign ends, so weigh whether people may still dial that number months later before releasing it.

Once released, a tracking number cannot be guaranteed back. See Tracking numbers for how renewals, scheduled releases, and reusing numbers work.
