Connect Google Ads
Connect the Google Ads account that runs your campaigns.
Only people with account access can connect Google Ads. Read what NMC changes before you connect.
Access requirements
Section titled “Access requirements”Sign in with a Google account that can access your Google Ads account, either directly or through a Google Ads manager account (including nested manager accounts). Select the Google Ads account that actually runs the campaigns, not the manager account itself.
NMC supports USD and CAD Google Ads accounts. Each business can connect to one Google Ads account at a time, and a Google Ads account can’t be connected to more than one NMC business at once.
If a manager account counts conversions for your Google Ads account (Google calls this cross-account conversion tracking), leave that setting as it is. NMC creates its conversion actions inside that manager account and leaves bidding up to you, so the Google account you sign in with also needs access to the manager account. See manager accounts.
Connect and check
Section titled “Connect and check”- Open Integrations → Google Ads in the business.
- Click Continue with Google and sign in with a Google account that has access to the Google Ads account.
- Under Choose your Google Ads account, pick the account and click Use this account.
- NMC puts its conversion setup in place: observation-only conversion actions, click parameters, auto-tagging, and Call Reporting (if you track calls from ads). The page shows Checking your Google Ads account… until NMC finishes checking the account. Your existing bidding doesn’t change.
- Test your tracking.
- When you’re ready for Google Ads to bid on NMC’s conversions, choose a stage to bid on.
NMC uploads conversions for leads created after you choose the Google Ads account. Leads created before you connected, or while Google Ads is disconnected, aren’t uploaded.
While Google Ads is connected, your business timezone and business currency match your Google Ads account. You still need to set up website tracking or Google Ads call tracking so NMC can track leads from your ads.
Reconnect or switch accounts
Section titled “Reconnect or switch accounts”Reconnect appears on Integrations → Google Ads only when Google asks you to sign in again, or when the connected Google user loses access to your Google Ads account or the manager account that counts its conversions. A problem such as Google Ads needs reconnecting links directly to this page. A different Google user can reconnect as long as they have access to the same Google Ads account, either directly or through a manager account.
If NMC lost access partway through setting up conversions, reconnecting picks up where it left off.
To switch to a different Google Ads account, disconnect first and then choose the new account. A newly connected account always starts on Keep my current bidding. If you reconnect to the same Google Ads account you used before, NMC keeps your bidding choice, finishes any incomplete NMC setup (such as missing conversion actions), and checks the account again. Reconnecting doesn’t undo changes someone made in Google Ads: if Google Ads is no longer bidding on the stage you chose, you’ll see Your Google Ads bidding changed.
If your account doesn’t appear
Section titled “If your account doesn’t appear”Check which Google account you signed in with, confirm it has access to the Google Ads account, verify that the account is active and uses USD or CAD, and make sure the account isn’t already connected to another business in NMC. Follow any message shown on the page, or include the business name and Google Ads account ID when contacting support.
