Contacts
Look up a person's full history of calls, texts, forms, and emails, or edit their contact information.
Open Contacts to look up a person and see every lead and activity they’ve had with your business in one place. A Contact represents the person, while each Lead represents a separate request for work.
Look up someone’s history
Section titled “Look up someone’s history”Use Search contacts to search by name, phone number, or email address, then open the contact to see all of their leads and activities. Because NMC matches people by phone number first and email address second, calls, texts, forms, and forwarded emails from the same person stay linked under one contact whenever those details match. See how NMC recognizes a person.
A repeat customer who books a repair this spring and calls for a new installation in the fall will have one contact with two separate leads. To filter your list by where each contact’s latest lead stands, choose Filter and pick a Status (New, Qualified, Converted, Archived, or Not a lead).
Both account users with business access and invited clients can view and edit contacts.
Editing a contact
Section titled “Editing a contact”Open a contact and choose Edit to update their first name, last name, phone number, or email address (developers can make the same updates through the customer API). Keep these rules in mind:
- Every non-anonymous contact must keep at least one valid phone number or email address.
- A phone number that already has recorded calls or texts cannot be removed or replaced.
- Each phone number and email address can belong to only one contact per business, and NMC does not merge separate contacts, so you can’t save a phone number or email that already belongs to another contact.
- Anonymous contacts (such as withheld caller IDs) are read-only.
- If Google Contacts is connected, edits saved in NMC sync automatically to NMC’s entry in your Google Contacts.
Seeing caller names on your mobile phone
Section titled “Seeing caller names on your mobile phone”Connecting the Google Contacts integration syncs NMC contacts into a Google account on your phone so returning leads show names on caller ID. It is completely separate from Google Ads and Google Business Profile; read how it manages entries before connecting a personal or shared address book.
